Position Details

NorthStar Transitions is looking for a full-time Lead Residential Counselor to be a rockstar team member at our gender-informed Women's Residential Substance Abuse treatment facility in Boulder, CO. This is a great position for those who have an interest in working with clients with substance use disorders and a knack for creating a great team culture.

Position Responsibilities:

Supervisory

  • Train and supervise residential counselors
  • Conduct check-ins and performance reviews
  • Conduct performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions
  • Conduct residential counselor interviews with HR
  • Audit residential counselor duties - ie. checklists, notes, daily programming, QR, documentation etc.
  • Support residential staff meetings led by Clinical Lead

Operational

  • Maintain a safe and functional environment for clients and staff
  • On-call emergency support
  • Monitor facility budgeting
  • Inventory and order food and supplies
  • Ensure adequate scheduling coverage
  • Maintain compliance with the Office of Behavioral Health and Joint Commission standards for the environment
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communication to other departments
  • Transport clients and supplies in company vehicle.
  • Provide reporting for and attend quarterly company meetings

Client Services

  • Develop and implement milieu programming
  • Provide case management for clients
  • Facilitate motivational interviewing interventions
  • Monitor client self-administration of medications
  • Assess for withdrawal symptoms and take vitals
  • Administer UA and BA tests as needed
  • Document client services in compliance with the Office of Behavioral Health and Joint Commission standards

Professional Development

  • Participate in monthly managerial and clinical training
  • Participate in weekly addiction counselor supervision
  • Participate in monthly administrative supervision

  • Familiarity with motivational interviewing, restorative justice, and strengths-based leadership.
  • Ability to assess workflow, identify inefficiencies and implement action plans for improvement

Minimum Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in the Substance Abuse or Mental Health field
  • 1 year team lead or supervisory experience in any field
  • First Aid, CPR, AED training

Supervisory Structure

  • Administratively supervised by the Operations Director
  • Client facing work supervised by the Assistant Clinical Director for Women’s Residential Services
  • Opportunity for LPC or CAT, CAS, LAC supervision

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday 7am- 3pm

Salary

  • $35,000- $40,000
