Admissions Process

Step 1: Let’s Talk

The first step in your recovery journey is a simple phone call. Reach out to us by calling 866-407-2240 or emailing us at admissions@nstprogram.com. Our team is here to learn more about you and listen to your story with compassion and confidentiality, answering any questions you might have about our programs or the treatment process.

Step 2: Insurance Verification

If you’ve decided that NorthStar Transitions is right for you, our team will verify your insurance to confirm your benefits. We understand that the financial aspect of treatment is important to you, so we verify your benefits ahead of time to let you know if your treatment will be covered and how much you can expect to pay out-of-pocket. Most health plans cover substance use treatment, but the extent of your coverage may vary depending on your insurance provider. If you don’t have insurance, our team can help you explore other payment options.

Step 3: Pre-Admission Assessment

Once insurance details are settled, you will complete a pre-admission assessment over the phone. This step helps us gain a better understanding of your clinical needs, mental health, substance use history and more to make sure that NorthStar Transitions is a good fit. This information discussed in this call is completely confidential and won’t be shared with individuals outside of our organization, even if you choose another treatment center.

Step 4: Assessment Review

Following the initial assessment, our clinical and medical teams will review your case to determine if NorthStar Transitions can meet your needs. We consider several factors to recommend the level of care that will give you the best chance at lasting recovery.

Step 5: Clinical Recommendations

After reviewing your assessment and determining that NorthStar Transitions is right for you, our team will reach out to discuss our clinical recommendations with you. Depending on your substance use history, mental health needs, preferences and timeline, our team will create a “blueprint” for your recovery, recommending the appropriate level of care and treatment duration. Upon mutual agreement, we will proceed to schedule your intake appointment.

Step 6: Intake Appointment

During your intake appointment, you will meet with our admissions team, complete all necessary paperwork and enter into care. You will have some help getting settled and will meet with a therapist shortly after arrival. We will also make sure that you have everything you need for your first session and that no prohibited items are brought onto the premises. When your intake appointment is scheduled, we will provide you with a list of what can and cannot be brought onsite.
