The University of Colorado Collegiate Recovery Center is a resource offered by the University of Colorado Boulder for students in recovery from a substance use disorder. The Collegiate Recovery Center, also known as the CURC, is located in the University Memorial Building near the student bowling ally known as “The Connection.”The University of Colorado Collegiate Recovery Center does not offer any drug or alcohol treatment or other substance abuse or addiction treatment services. The purpose of the CURC is to provide a safe place for students in recovery to connect socially on campus.According to the University of Colorado Collegiate Recovery Center website:
“The CU Collegiate Recovery Center (CUCRC) provides support for those in recovery from substance use disorders or addictive behaviors and a home for the sober community on the CU-Boulder campus. It is open to all who are in recovery or choosing to live a substance-free lifestyle, and to allies who are supportive of the recovery community. The CUCRC shares a message of hope, resiliency and personal integrity, and connects CU and local community members with recovery-related services and others in recovery. With an emphasis on building peer-to-peer connections, accountability and well-being, the CUCRC facilitates healthy and sustainable growth of mind, body, and spirit. By linking education and recovery, the program furthers academic growth and professional opportunity. The Center supports lifelong recovery by providing a community committed to long-term support for all students - prospective, new, current, continuing, and alumni following graduation.”
In addition to providing a social hub for students in recovery, the CURC also offers Boulder sober living housing to students with 6 or more months of sobriety who are currently enrolled at the University. The housing is offered at 4 unit apartment building near the campus. Students can learn how to apply for CU Boulder sober housing by visiting the University of Colorado Collegiate Recovery Center website.Although the CURC offers several self-help meetings throughout the week including “recovery talks” and AA meetings, no substance abuse treatment or services is offered through the University of Colorado Collegiate Recovery Center.NorthStar Transitions is an in-network provider with the University of Colorado health insurance plan. Therefore, NorthStar Transitions is able to provide Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient treatment along with drug and alcohol testing for CU students who are in recovery from a substance use disorder.
