NorthStar Transitions offers case management, drug and alcohol testing and experiential therapy and wellness activities in addition to our detox, inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment programs.
The purpose of case management services is to provide clients “boots on the ground” support in achieving goals and objectives outlined on their treatment plan. Many clients with substance abuse issues also struggle with “life skills.” Additionally, many clients presenting to addiction treatment are in a process of rebuilding their lives and may need to re-engage with employment or school or have legal or medical needs that need to be attended to. Case Managers work with clients to enroll in school, obtain employment, sign up for community service, fulfill DUI education and therapy requirements, and schedule appointments with physicians to address any medical concerns. Case Managers will also help clients gain introduction to the twelve step community by accompanying clients to NA and AA meetings and other mutual support groups.
Drug and alcohol testing is a crucial component of the NorthStar program. Regular urine drug screens and breathalyzer testing holds clients accountable to their sobriety and provides useful data and insight to the clinical team.
Addiction treatment can be fun! NorthStar Transitions’ experiential therapy and wellness program provides for fun and educational experiences throughout each client’s stay in treatment. Examples of experiential therapy include equine therapy, acupuncture, meditation, yoga and other experiences. NorthStar clients and staff take advantage of our location whenever possible by organizing regular activities such as day hikes, ski trips, movies, and trips to the rec center.
